Q: I don't know much about this teen club thing.  What is it?
A: We like to consider it a place where kids can come and blow off steam, meet new people, dance to the music they like, and just basically be themselves while still being supervised.  Its basically a school dance, without the school. Some parents consider us weekend babysitters, which we think is great!

Q: Is it safe?
A: We have off duty police officers, licensed security guards with metal detectors and an adult security staff that is here during all hours of operation.  We have rules and standards that they follow to keep a pretty thick line between what's acceptable behavior and what isn't.

Q: What about weapons, alcohol and drugs?
A: Believe it or not, it's almost non-existent here.  Boys are searched with metal detectors upon entry, girls entering are also metal detected and asked to open purses up.  If a patron arrives under the influence of drugs or alcohol, they will be refused admittance to the facility. The police are a paid fixture in our parking lot, and kids know that an arrest is only a few feet away!

Q: My daughter is only 14.  How do you keep older boys from "influencing her"?
A: Since we don't know who's who and how old people are and who is "ok" to be fraternizing with whom, we have a simple standard that we follow:  Kids don't neccesarily come here "to make out", but we get the occasional couple that would rather play kissy-face than dance.  We do not allow "making out" or dirty dancing.

Q: What about unwanted advances or "harrassing" behavior?
A: Intimidation, harrassment, provocation, or any report of unwarranted physical contact is not tolerated and is answered with immediate removal from the building without refund.

Q: What do you offer inside?  Is there food?  Beverages?
A: We consider our business the same as a high school dance only without the school and security guards instead of parental chaperones.  It depends on the venue, but many times they will offer soda pop and bottled water, pizza, candy bars, chips, and other goodies.  We do giveaways sometimes, where we play games and contests to win free passes, t-shirts and CDs.
Absolutely no alcohol is allowed on the premisis at any time.

Q: How many people can be at one of your events?
A:
Depends on the venue.  Our typical venue sizes range between 500-1000. If we go over capacity, we shut the doors and do not admit new arrivals until people leave.

Q: Are parents allowed in?
A:
Unlike teen clubs in the past, we don't have anything to hide from parents or anyone else, for that matter, so we welcome parents to come and check us out for themselves.  Anytime before 8:30 pm you're allowed to come in and see what we look like, how we're set up, meet the staff...etc.

After 8:30pm we ask that parents vacate the building for two reasons.
   1) If we let one parent stay we have to let them all stay, then we have to start babysitting parents.  How do we know "Mr Smith" is really someone's dad and not just some creepy old man with a video phone?
   2) Kids that see their moms and dads hanging out where they're hanging out will not be happy campers.  Word spreads fast in school, and if they talked about that the next day we'd be empty very soon!

If you are a parent and need to get your child, ask for a manager and your child will be paged to come to the door for you.  If you really feel the need to come in and see whats going on, ask for an escorted "tour".

Q: Is there a dress code?
A:
Yes, A loose one. No Hats, Hoods or Bandanas, and Covered is usually the code we use.  We don't like to give kids more flack than they already get about the things they wear, so we're pretty open to let them express themselves.  Some girls dress less than others, but as long as everything stays where it's supposed to stay, we'll allow it.  The general rule is "Dress to Impress". In other words, look as nice as you can.
